Roles & Responsibilities:
 
  • Drive Sales Growth: Develop and implement a robust sales strategy focused on securing and expanding contracts with federal and state government entities.
  • Relationship Building: Foster long-term relationships with key decision-makers, procurement officers, and stakeholders in government and federal organizations.
  • Government Contracting Expertise: Leverage your deep understanding of federal and state contracting procedures, including RFP/RFQ processes, compliance, and negotiation tactics, to close deals effectively.
  • Pipeline Development: Identify and qualify new opportunities within the government vertical, build a strong sales pipeline, and maintain accurate forecasts.
  • Strategic Account Management: Manage existing government and federal accounts, ensuring client satisfaction while identifying opportunities for cross-selling and upselling services and products.
  • Outcome-Driven Approach: Focus on meeting and exceeding sales targets and KPIs with an emphasis on measurable outcomes and long-term contract success.
  • Travel: Willing to travel frequently within Tennessee and occasionally across the U.S. to meet clients, attend industry conferences, and close high-value contracts.
  • Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with internal teams such as product development, legal, and operations to ensure client requirements are met and contracts are executed seamlessly.
  • Industry Networking: Attend government-related events, conferences, and networking sessions to stay updated with the latest industry trends and build new relationships.

Qualifications & Skills:
 
  • Experience: 10+ years of sales experience, with a major focus on government and federal contracts in the U.S.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and securing government contracts, with deep knowledge of the public procurement cycle.
  • Quick Thinker & Problem Solver: Ability to think on your feet, navigate complex contracts, and overcome objections with creative solutions.
  • Relationship Builder: Strong interpersonal skills with a knack for building trust-based relationships with government stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Negotiation Skills: Proficient in contract negotiation and closing deals, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks.
  • Self-Motivated & Outcome-Driven: Passion for driving results with minimal supervision, taking ownership of the sales process from lead generation to contract closure.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting to C-level executives and government officials.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CRM tools, sales forecasting software, and other digital platforms used in sales tracking and communication.
  • Industry Familiarity: Deep understanding of the processes, regulations, and unique requirements of the public sector in Tennessee and beyond.
  • Preferred Skills: Experience in working within the IT, defense, or infrastructure sectors is a plus, with the ability to leverage industry-specific knowledge in closing deals.
