Job Summary:  

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for managing production services and will work with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of Backup and Cloud-to-Cloud Backup services in Azure, and AWS.  

Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • What you will do
     

  • Create cloud infrastructure resources in AWS & Kubernetes via automation using IaC such as Terraform, Helm, Github & Github Actions.
  • Create & deploy monitoring via automation using Monitoring as Code (MaC) such as Terraform & Grafana.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Build and run enterprise quality DevOps tooling for Engineering teams including ArgoCD, BackStageIO and Grafana.
  • Work with engineering functions to develop and deliver innovative solutions to problems found in production.
  • Work with your colleagues and other engineering teams to identify areas of opportunity and propose improvements to internal and/or production infrastructure.
  • Use your Cloud Services, DevOps/SRE experience to prevent incidents from ever happening 
  • Build highly effective observability and monitoring solutions that alert on symptoms rather than on outages. Deliver strong metrics, alerting and tracing.
  • Identify operational processes suitable for automation and drive the implementation of solutions.
  • Carry personal responsibility for high quality changes to a live production infrastructure.
  • Create estimates and work plans then deliver according to those plans in an agile manner.
  • Be part of an on-call rotation; Occasionally participate during, or outside of, working hours in incident resolution as a subject matter expert.
  • Occasionally carry out changes outside of normal working hours
    What you will bring
  • Ability to design, implement and operate automated production class, reliable deployment pipelines.
  • Development experience of creating complex AWS services using Terraform and automation.
  • Development experience of creating Kubernetes resources using Helm.
    Python development, including serverless environments.
  • Linux systems administration.
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering modern DevOps practices for the full development lifecycle.

Education/Experience/Certifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in the technology field, or equivalent work experience
    Should have overall 10+ years of experience, Minimum 5 year’s experience of building secure, cloud-native applications using AWS managed services.

  • 5+ years progressive experience with 3+ years proficiency in Linux/Unix command line and understanding of package management on Linux systems.  

Skills/Abilities:  

  • Demonstrated programming skills in one or more of: Bash, Python, Perl, PHP, Ruby, C, C#, Go, Java  

  • Understanding of network OSI model  

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently  

  • Track record of successful practical problem solving, excellent written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills  

  • AWS, Azure or GCP deployment experience  

  • Experience in working with Microservice architectures  

  • Strong Kubernetes & Docker experience  

  • Prometheus and Flux experience is a plus.
